A new group featuring seasoned improvisers Iman Spaargaren and Ada Rave on saxophones, Pedro Ivo Ferreira on double bass, and Nick Thessalonikefs on drums presents a program of new and earlier compositions by Iman Spaargaren, (re)arranged for this powerful lineup of two tenor saxophones and rhythm section. Energetic and playful arrangements are spiced with burning improvisations and intense interplay, ranging from poetic nostalgia to raw, miscellaneous grooves, and from African rhythmic pulsations to hypnotic melodic interactions.

Dutch saxophonist and composer Iman Spaargaren has been working for a long time with Undercurrent Trio and released many albums f.ex 'Cloud Song' with Undercurrent Trio & Suzan Veneman on Zennez Records and Sound Liaison. He toured in the America's and Europe. In 2022 Iman received a composition assignment to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the BIM (Beroepsvereniging voor Improviserende musici) workers union for jazz and improvised music. He was Young VIP in 2012 which gave him the opportunity to perform with his own group at renowned venues all through The Netherlands.

Ada Rave is an outstanding Argentinian saxophonist, improviser and composer. Based in Amsterdam, she is one of the most in demand saxophonists on the international improvised music scene. She performes throughout Europe solo and with her trio, as well as in various projects including Hearth, the Kaja Draksler Octet and The Ex. In September 2019 she became part of the internationally acclaimed DOEK collective.

Pedro Ivo Ferreira is a creative bassist and composer whose artistic vision connects his Brazilian roots with a profound curiosity for improvisation and contemporary music. Currently based in the Netherlands, Pedro is an active presence in the European jazz and improvised music scene. He performs with projects such as Orè, Nefertiti Quartet, Federico Calcagno Octet, and Cacha Mundinho. With the Nefertiti Quartet, he recorded four albums — f.ex Live in Paris (2023)—and has performed extensively throughout Europe. The group was selected for Jazz Migration #5 and won the Euro Radio Jazz Competition in Copenhagen in 2019. Pedro's own ensemble Orè combines Brazilian rhythms with free improvisation and contemporary music.

Nick Thessalonikefs, a versatile drummer from the heartland of Democracy, Greece, formed his own piano trio in 2016 under the name of Canvas, featuring Orestis Petrakis and Pedro Ivo Ferreira. The same year brought him the Keep an Eye jazz competition where he wins the Incentive Prize in the semi finals with Canvas and the Best Conservatory of Amsterdam Soloist in the finals. Nick also participates in Federico Calcagno’s band Liquid Identities with whom, in the spring of 2019, he and the band win the second prize in the finals of Keep an Eye jazz competition. Nick has been writing music recently for his own group, while at the same time participating in various projects such us the Adrian Moncada sextet, Onder, Noneto Desconcertante, Stab Freeze Collective, and others.
